Collaboration agreement with the Museu Nacional d´Art de Catalunya
The Institut d´Estudis Medievals has a collaboration agreement with the Museu Nacional d´Art de Catalunya. With this agreement, the membersof the Institut (either professors or researchers) can use the resources in the MNAC, its facilities and its bibliographic and documentary collections. This agreement is made extensive to our PhD. students who –especially, but not exclusively, in the field of art history- want to undertake a part of their research on the materials kept in the museum. The MNAC has an outstanding collection on Gothic, especially Catalan; in its collection some of the main transformations undergone by the Gothic throughout the Late Middle Ages in the Mediterranean area can be observed. The evolution in funerary art and art of Marian inspiration are especially represented there, and basic lines can be drawn on the most important developments in wall painting, goldsmithery or sculpture in the Late Middle Ages.
Collaboration agreement with the Institute for the Preservation of Medical Traditions (Washington)
The Institut d´Estudis Medievals has a collaboration agreement with the l´Institute for the Preservation of Medical Traditions of Washington, which allows our members and students to use the bibliographic and digital resources housed there, and also to contact their specialists and even take part in joint activities. The Institute for the Preservation of Medical Traditions is a leading institution in its field: it is devoted to the cataloguing, digitalization and preservation of texts on the history of medicine (understood both in scientific and cultural terms), and also to the publication of studies and the edition of texts on this subject. One of the fundamental research fields of the Institute is the history of medicine in the Medieval Mediterranean area, seen through the exchange and interaction between the Arabic and Latin sources.
